Going into week 3 of College football season every division championship is still up for grabs, but the University of Nebraska has one edge that's caught our attention, and it takes place in 20' shipping containers outside of Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
The University of Nebraska is gearing up to provide luxury tailgating facilities to Husker Fans and naming the encampment "Blackshirt Village".
|The village will be made up of converted 20' shipping containers and is sure to be the envy of all other tailgaters at the game. The units are equipped with three televisions and a premium sound system, a wet bar, oversized couch, heating and air conditioning, sink and granite countertops, and what tailgate would be complete without a grill?|
|The "tailgate in a can" also has large windows, a fold up patio area with outdoor furniture, and a roof top observation deck. The Lincoln based architectural firm DLR Group and Rogge General Contractors built the prototype that will be on display outside of the stadium for the remainder of the season, before launching the full village next fall.|
To date, the only other "structured tailgating" to tailgating in a container is to set up a tent. Sure, tents can hold more people and are great for keeping people out of the sun and catering large groups, the shipping containers provide a premium environment for smaller groups. Soft couches, a grill, and the ability to climb the stairs and survey the environment will give it an edge for anyone looking to impress a client or have a great pre-game party with friends.
The University has been quiet on the details, but based on the information that has been released the idea is really a complete package for tailgating and sure to be popular with anyone that's able to book them.
