What to Look for When Buying a Conex

When you buy a conex box it should be a fairly straightforward transaction. There is no technology involved, after all it's a steel box with doors. That being said, there are a few things you'll want to check out to make sure you're getting a good deal. Here are five tips to get you started:

  • Look at the lines: Are the top and bottom rails straight? Is the conex box square?
  • Flooring: What condition is the flooring in? Are there any gouges or delamination?
  • Seeing Stars: If you go inside and close the doors, can you see any sunlight coming through on the walls or ceiling?
  • Around the Doors: Are the door seals tight? Is there any rust that's built up due to water collection?
  • Check up Top: This one is a little harder, but are there any dents in the ceiling? Has any water collected to expedite corrosion?

Buying a Conex Box

There are several ways to buy a conex box, but the no matter if you're purchasing it direct or as an online transaction the process should be very clear and you should be comfortable with the seller. Purchasing a conex box from a retail location means that you'll be able to visit the location, inspect several containers, and choose the one that you like the best. From there, you pay on site and the delivery is scheduled. Purchasing a container through an online marketplace means that you'll probably have less customer service, but the lower price will reflect that. Regardless, you should be able to inspect the container and be comfortable with the transaction. Communication is key. Conex Box Delivery

Having a conex box delivered isn't as difficult as you may imagine. Yes, it's a 20' or 40' box, but a skilled driver with enough room to navigate the area should be able to place the container exactly where it's needed. A few things to remember:

  • Tell the driver if you'd like the doors facing the front, or rear of the trailer.
  • Make sure the driver has your contact information so they can call you if they can't find the location, or will be running early or late.
  • Tell the driver if you need a tilt bed truck, or if you can unload a conex box from a chassis or flatbed truck.
