Storage Container Delivery Checklist
A majority of the time shipping and storage containers are delivered by a tilt bed trailer. With this in mind, before you schedule to have your shipping or storage container delivered, you should ask yourself the following questions:
- If you're having a 20' container delivered does your location have a straight path of at least 40', with room for a 34' long x 9' wide rigid vehicle? This is a common vehicle size for a 20' container.
- If you're having a 40' container delivered does your location have a straight path of at least 100', does your location have room for a 60' long x 9' wide rigid vehicle? This is a common vehicle size for a 40' container.
- Does your location have a hard surface? Delivery vehicles will not normally drive over grass, fields, muddy areas or uneven ground, unless this has been pre-agreed.
- Are there any underground cables or manholes?
- Are there any overhead cables? If there are overhead cables, please let the hauling/drayage company know the height.
- Are there any overhanging trees? If there are overhanging trees, please let the hauling/drayage company know the height.
- If you need to offload or load containers from a public highway, let the company know and make advanced arrangements for any legal implications.
- Does your delivery location have limited time access or specific opening times? Traffic and detours may cause unplanned delays.
A great container delivery reference that we found has been provided by the NPSA and J Staal Storage Solutions. Watch the informative video below to see a container being delivered.
